The Confederation of Indian Industry works tirelessly to branding ‘India’. Therefore, in addition to advocating for Indian industry worldwide, CII has spread its resources wide and deep into advancing India’s social sector.

Over the past 13 years, the US office, based in the Washington area, has linked several Indian Americans to organizations and projects in India that have benefitted from pro bono expertise.

Recognizing the velocity at which the Indian community wanted to be connected to India’s economic development, the Indian American Council has been launched as a formalized effort to link individual Indians to development opportunities in India.  The Indian American Council has resulted from 4 parallel developments.

1. The establishment of an Indian community in the US that is educated, professional and remains committed to India’s progress.

2. The concept of public - private partnerships in India that started with corporations contributing to national challenges but has trickled down to the individual Indian too.

3. A national acknowledgement that social infrastructure needs critical attention in order for India to sustain her economic development.

4. The emergence of rural enterprise has alerted us to a hugely untapped source of revenue generation for national GDP. This sector must be supported to realize its full potential.
