Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Kamal Nath reinforces efforts of
CIIs Indian American Council to link Indians in the United States with development in India
The Indian American Council hosted Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Kamal Nath, at a reception which was held at the Consulate General of India in New York on Friday, June 23 at 6.00pm E.S.T. Launched by the Confederation of Indian Industry, I.A.C is the link between Indians in the United States that want to partake in Indias development via a range of social infrastructure projects. In an eloquent speech that validated I.A.Cs vision and execution of involving locally based Indians in health, education and other infrastructure projects, the Minister also gave his governments commitment to aid such efforts.
Mr. Nath addressed a select audience of Indians living in the New York tri-state area who have made their mark in their respective professions. He highlighted Indias presence as an economic entity and praised their role in facilitating Indias emergence as world player. He stressed that democracy and free trade have created a huge playing field, where Indians living in the United States must channel their time, energy and philanthropy the Indian American Council is the ideal platform to capture that passion to help India.
Mr. Kamal Naths comments were preceded by addresses by Mr. Sam Pitroda, and Mr. Anil Kumar, Chairman and Co Chair of the Indian American Council respectively. The former spoke about current areas of focus of the IAC, namely, education, corporate development and healthcare while Mr. Kumar focused on detailing the nature of how the members could get involved by signing up on the website. Both encouraged the evenings guests to join IAC and contribute to Indias progress in a structured, institutionalized manner that would make for a personally and professional fulfilling goal. Ms. Neelam Deo, Consul General, Consulate General of India, and Mr. Tarun Das, Chief Mentor, CII also addressed the session.
