CII's Indian American Council collaborates with the Pan IIT chapters of Greater New York and Midwest to host Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission of India, Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia

CII's Indian American Council and the Pan IIT jointly hosted Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission of India, Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia at a lunch session in New York and a dinner session in Chicago on October 26 and 27 respectively. CII's Chief Mentor, Tarun Das introduced Dr. Ahluwalia at both events and praised the partnership between CII and Pan IIT. Indian American Council Chair, Sam Pitroda was present at the Chicago event, where he encouraged the Pan IIT alumnus to engage in India's social development via IAC.

The sessions' structure allowed the Pan IIT alumnus a closed door interactive opportunity which was followed by a larger reception open to all. Dr. Ahluwalia eloquently outlined his vision for India's growth to be inclusive of the country's entire population. He said the 8% growth would be improved to reach a 9% growth if agriculture could be grown to 4% and more of the rural economy could be transitioned to provide more urban services. He addresses a multitude of questions from the audience, ranging from education and infrastructure to industry subsidies and how the non-resident Indian can be involved in India's progress. The events were well attended by local alumnus and select members of the Indian community.
